Monday night
06/23/2015Last 2 days of teaching!
06/29/2015Tuesday finally felt like a normal day here! I was feeling a bit better knowing Tamweka was in the hospital and knowing that I could be here doing things with my team. We woke up at the regular 6am time and all began getting ready for the day. Breakfast is always fun with this group because we all share our experiences from the night.
We headed out after breakfast and walked to the school. The teachers are all in a nice groove now and they all know where to go and have been teaching lessons and loving it. After leaving them there I took Greg down to Adziwa to meet up with the building crew. I had planned for him to help set the posts for the learning center. When we arrived we found they were not there. I called and they said they weren’t coming today. There were men there working on the pits for the toilets so Greg decided to stay and help them dig. The hole needs to be 6-8 meters deep so it’s going to be a lot of work!
After getting him settled I went to have a meeting with Tovia. There is some info I want her to collect for me. We sat and talked about a lot of details and procedures happening and how we might be able to improve things. We are working on a lot of ideas. One idea I think a volunteer on this trip is going to help me with.
We headed back to the village in time for lunch and then we all went to either play or watch volleyball. Before that I took a wonderful shower that felt amazing! The weather has been great and mornings have not been as cold as they were when we arrived.
Our evening program was the safari company came and did a short presentation and answered all of the volunteers questions. Everyone is excited to head to Zambia on Friday!
We all stayed up kind of late and just talked. As I said it was great “normal” Malawi day 🙂
I called the hospital to check on Tamweka and from what I could understand she is improving slowly. She had not been throwing up anymore so that is wonderful news. I hope she will get to come home soon!
