Adziwa is an organization in Malawi run by local people to help children who have lost their parents.  The organization focuses on helping to rehome these children by placing them with members of their extended family rather than in an orphanage.  Adziwa then supports these special families by offering them  housing in the Adziwa community of other such extended families, all of whom attend a school and daycare dedicated to these children.

With Change in Mind has worked with this community based organization for several years, building a kitchen, installing two stoves, and providing a water pump on the property. A team of volunteers from With Change in Mind established vegetable gardens on the property over the summer.  These gardens will help become a source of sustainable food for the children as well as provide additional income stream for the community.

Recently, this group of families lost critical funding that provided food for the children under 5 years of age during the day and paid the salaries of four staff members.  However, with your help, we can bridge this funding gap and continue to help the organization on its road to sustainability. Our goal is to put income generating and other programs in place over the course of this year so that Adziwa will no longer be dependent on outside funding.
