06/22/2014Arriving “home”
06/23/2014Thursday morning everyone was happy to sleep in. I woke up around 7 had some coffee and wandered around the property a bit. Once it was time for breakfast I went around and woke everyone up. The bus had to be packed, the group needed to eat and I had to meet with everyone to go over a few things before I sent them off. The morning was busy. Trying to get straight all the details of the bus ride, entrance into the park and arrange when we would meet up Sunday had me running all over the place!
Once it was time for the group to head out everyone boarded the bus and we said our goodbyes. They had about a four hour ride ahead of them so we wanted them to get on the road as close to on time as possible.
After the group left the lake seemed so quiet. I sat and had a cup of coffee with Guy and then he also headed out to go back to the lodge. Most of the people working at the lodge were coming down for the wedding so he and his wife had to stay back and take care of everything at Kumbali.
I will have to convince one of the volunteers to write about safari so you all can hear how that went. I’m sure they will have some great stories when they come back.
It’s Sunday now so I am waiting for a lift so I can meet the bus as it travels back from the national park. We will meet up around noon and hopefully all go back to Kumbali together.
The wedding was beautiful and everyone who attended had a great time. The trip is now half over and we have a lot to do at the school this next week. One full week of teaching. Hopefully the group will come back well rested and ready for some hard work. I’m sure they are missing the kids and missing the village.

Did I miss something (wouldn’t be abnormal)? Whose wedding are you speaking of?
Wonderful posts Erin. You always Paint a very vivid picture of how and what the group is doing. Your trips are obviously very well organized, missing baggage not withstanding, and filled with rich and meaningful experiences. You have a great gift and talent for putting these “adventures” together.
Looking forward to the opportunity to travel with you again. If you have the chance give my best to the people at the orphanage and take a ride on the swings for me.
Look forward to seeing you and all of your wonderful photos when you return.
